Steel structures

Connection design, fabrication detailing and shop drawings a fabricator can put on the machine without redrawing them.

Steel structures

Send us a frame. You get a Tekla model, a designed connection set and drawings the shop can cut from.

Who this is for Steel fabricators, main contractors, and specialist subcontractors carrying a delegated connection scope.

What you receive

Fabrication detailing package

Assembly and single-part drawings marked to the fabricator’s own numbering standard, with CNC files issued beside them.

Connection design set

Delegated connection design to AISC 360, with a calculation note per connection type and a schedule tying every mark to its design.

Erection drawings and marking plans

Anchor-bolt setting-out, erection views by elevation, and a marking plan the erector can work from on site.

Advance bill of material

A material list by profile, grade and length, issued early so the mill order is not waiting on the drawings.

Miscellaneous metals set

Stairs, handrail, ladders, platforms and access steel, detailed to the same standard as the primary frame.

Approval and comment cycle

Drawings issued for review, comments answered by the engineer who detailed them, revisions tracked on a register.

The scope, at a glance

  • Steel building design

Steel building design to AISC 360 (LRFD and ASD) and SBC 306.

  • Connection design

Moment, shear, brace and base-plate connections, each with its calculation note.

  • 3D modelling at LOD 400

Tekla Structures models at LOD 400: fabrication-ready, not illustrative.

  • Shop drawings

Assembly, single-part, anchor-bolt and erection drawings, marked to the fabricator's own numbering.

  • MTO and BOM

Material take-offs and bills of material read straight out of the model, so the mill order is not waiting on the drawings.

  • Anchor-bolt details

Anchor-bolt setting plans and embedment details, issued early for the civil works.

  • PEB review and as-built

Pre-engineered building review and as-built modelling against what was actually erected.

  • Every type of steel building

Industrial, commercial, warehouse, multi-storey, mezzanine, PEB, cold-formed, bridges and canopies.

  • Code-compliant AISC, SBC, LRFD and ASD.
  • Accurate and detailed Precision in every deliverable.
  • Fabrication-ready Models and drawings a shop can cut from.
  • Collaborative Clear communication, better results.

How it is produced

01

The model is the drawing

Every sheet is a view of one Tekla model. A member change updates the sheets instead of starting them again.

02

Connections designed, not picked from a table

Each type is designed to AISC 360 and checked in IDEA StatiCa wherever the geometry leaves the standard cases.

03

Numbering agreed before detailing starts

Assembly marks, part marks and the drawing register are agreed with the fabricator at set-up, not invented later.

04

Checked by a second engineer

No sheet leaves the office on the strength of the person who drew it. The check is recorded on the sheet.

05

Shop feedback closes the loop

A query from the shop floor goes back to the detailer who raised the sheet, and the model is corrected first.

Questions clients ask

Can you detail from a PDF set rather than a model?

Yes. We rebuild the frame in Tekla from your drawings and issue an RFI list for whatever the set does not resolve. The rebuild is priced as its own line.

Who carries responsibility for the connection design?

Delegated connection design is signed by the engineer who produced it, and the calculation notes are issued with the drawings for the engineer of record to accept.

What do you need before you can start?

Approved design drawings, the profiles and grades actually available to you, the fabricator’s numbering standard, and the erection sequence if it is already fixed.

How is a design change handled mid-package?

The change goes into the model, the affected sheets are reissued rather than the whole package, and the drawing register shows exactly what moved.

A question that is not here?

Ask the engineer who would run your project. Send the drawings and the answer comes back in writing.
