Structural design

Concrete and steel design with calculation notes a reviewer can follow, taken through to reinforcement detailing.

Structural design

A structure that is sized, checked, drawn and defended, with the calculation behind every member on file.

Who this is for Developers, contractors and lead consultants who need a structure designed or an existing one checked.

What you receive

Analysis and design calculation note

Load take-down, load combinations, the analysis model and the member checks, laid out so a reviewer can follow a number to its source.

General arrangement drawings

Framing plans, sections and schedules at a scale that can be built from, coordinated against the architecture.

Foundation design

Footings, rafts or piles sized against the geotechnical report, and checked for uplift, overturning and settlement.

Reinforcement detailing and BBS

Rebar drawings and bar bending schedules, with laps, anchorage and cover set to the governing code and to what the site can actually place.

Peer review and second opinion

An independent read on someone else’s design, model or submission, issued as a findings register with a severity against each item.

Strengthening and remedial design

Assessment of an existing structure and a repair or strengthening scheme, with the construction sequence it depends on.

The scope, at a glance

  • Load analysis

Gravity, wind and seismic load analysis to SBC 301 and ASCE 7.

  • Concrete design

Reinforced concrete design to ACI 318 and SBC 304.

  • Steel design

Structural steel design to AISC 360, LRFD and ASD.

  • Foundation design

Isolated footings, rafts, pile caps and pile groups.

  • Analysis and modelling

ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE and STAAD.Pro models issued with the full report.

  • Drawings and bar schedules

Detailed structural drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS).

  • Peer review

Peer review and third-party check engineering on someone else's design.

  • Retrofitting and assessment

Retrofitting, strengthening and forensic assessment of existing structures.

  • Code-compliant SBC, ACI, AISC and ASCE.
  • A reviewer can follow it Calculation notes written to be checked, not filed.
  • Analysis you can audit Model, assumptions and results issued together.
  • Buildable Taken through to reinforcement detailing.

How it is produced

01

The load path is decided before the model is built

A hand check on the scheme comes first. Software confirms a load path; it is not asked to discover one.

02

Every model is sanity-checked by hand

Reactions against applied load, deflections against span, and a simple equilibrium check before any member is sized.

03

The calculation note is written for the reviewer

Clause references beside the checks and assumptions stated at the front, because a note nobody can follow gets returned.

04

Optimised for tonnage and for buildability

Fewer sizes and repeatable details usually beat the theoretically lightest member, and the tender price shows it.

Questions clients ask

Which code do you design to?

Saudi Building Code, with ACI 318, AISC 360 and ASCE 7 behind it. If a project specifies Eurocode we design to Eurocode and say so on the note.

Can you take over a half-finished design?

Yes, and the first deliverable is a review of what exists. We will not sign a design we have not checked from the load take-down up.

Do you issue the analysis model files?

Yes. Native analysis files, the calculation note and the drawings are all handed over at closeout: that is part of the engagement, not an extra.

What does a peer review actually give us?

A findings register: each item with a severity, the clause it engages and what it would take to close it. Before appointment we give counts, severities and categories rather than document locations.

A question that is not here?

Ask the engineer who would run your project. Send the drawings and the answer comes back in writing.
